I am a clastic sedimentologist and stratigrapher focused on the late Precambrian to early Paleozoic paleoenvironmental and paleogeographic record of eastern North America, where the stratigraphic record provides the context and, in part, the record of continental dispersals and collisions and climate changes that coincided with an explosion and diversification of multicellular life on Earth. work on ways to pull out tectonic and climate signals from the ancient rock record, using a holistic stratigraphic approach that encompasses radiometric dating, biostratigraphy, and the “four Ps”: process sedimentology, paleoenvironmental reconstruction, paleoflow, and provenance analysis.
